The New Skyline of Beijing

With a history that is more than 3000 years, Beijing is an amazing mix of old and new. For centuries Beijing has been the centre for cultural and business activities, and is today beyond doubt a truly world class and international city.

New Architectonical Masterpieces
Hosting Olympic Games 2008 has excessively changed the city: the majority of world-class design consortiums keenly involved themselves in reshaping the space of modern Beijing. The National Stadium, "Bird´s Nest", designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron, and Paul Andrew's National Grand Theater "Eggshell" are the two newest landmarks of the Chinese capital. The third one, the new National Swimming centre, "Water Cube", was designed by and PTW Architects.  The new Central Television site – the very unconventional Ram Koolhass's “Door” or "Z crisscross" - is a 230-meter high building that marks the heart of the Central Business District (CBD) in eastern Beijing.
